Default Cleaning Lampshades

I have white lampshades that turned brown from smoking in the house.
Can they be made white again & how to do it?

No. Buy new ones, and quit smoking.

Place lampshade on smoker's head. Spray lampshade with heavy duty
motel-grade cleaner from a janitorial supply house. Allow to soak for
half an hour in the hot sun, rotating frequently. Wash with garden
hose (resist temptation to use pressure washer). Allow to sun dry an
additional hour. Observe reults and repeat as necessary until all
traces of nicotine addiction have been removed. G

Depend on whether the shade is glued or sewn together. Most are glued,
and will fall apart if submerged. If they are sewn, use a bucket wide
enough to fit the widest part of the shade, and tall enough to hold
1/2 the shade. Fill with water, detergent and a little bleach.
Submerge and spin for a few minutes. Turn shade over and repeat. Rinse
in the shower.

Some lampshades can be washed - carefully - and some can't. I don't
advise submerging one in water. I would mix soap, water and some
clorox and then spray it on the inside. Let is stand a while....rinse
with water and white vinegar. If it is clean and not streaked, then
do the outside.
