Default Is Turning a freezer off for a week bad for it?

Hello,
I have an ice cream shop and 3 large deep freezes. Half way through
the week some freezers are empty. Am i able to turn them off for a
week until the next delivery without hurting them?

It won't the running of it.

But it might start to smell a little funky inside.

Also depends on what type of refrigeration unit it/they are -- if just
a "standard" self-standing freezer, no problem. If, otoh, they're
part of a central ammonia chiller system or similar, not so easy,
necessarily.

Right after the delivery, are all three of them full?

Why not? Just turn them back on well prior to next delivery.
Also, are you aware that is better to keep freezers as full as possible?
It is. Suggest you call the mfg.

Lou

Check with the mfg. to see how to properly shut them down. If shut off
and kept closed, they will probably mildew .. once mildewy, they will
reek to high heaven and likely impart the odor to food.

Don't know how much of a problem the mildew would really be, but
certainly if off for a week they won't be cold enough to keep the ice
cream when get the new delivery for a while again.

He could always experiment w/ what would work but doubt will get much
energy savings while having them cold enough to not have problems w/
the new stock...
