WAY OFF TOPIC: Religion

What makes man choose to post to these newsgroups about his religion? What's wrong with that? Religion can contain a notion of automation, it offers help and repair (announces the offer at least, but sadly doesn't always deliver), and has been seen to cause alarm on more than one occasion. Hence the choice of newsgroups, I guess ;;-) |

I am not certain but it seems that the Egyptians of the days of the Pharaohs
were displaced by the Arabs of today. Thus the flags of Egypt, Syria, Iraq are similar from the days of the U.A.R. I have a religion but I wouldn't dream of spamming newsgroups in an attempt to push it down your throats. I find I have very little problem with anyone having a religion as compared to spewing BS everywhere you go. However, theistic religion does tend to show a lack of reason, as in the fact there is NO evidence to suggest the existence of any of these magical beings and activities. Again, You are entitled to your opinion, but you're teetering very close to the edge of calling ME an idiot! Nothing of the sort. Those who arrogantly assume that they are oh so smart because they disbelieve what millions of generations before them believed; I like the "millions of generations". Actually, let's think of each generation as 25 years. That's pretty generous. So, us Jews supposedly started the monotheistic genre of religion maybe 5000 to 6000 years ago. Perhaps that's 200 or even 250 generations. Not millions. Christians, that would be 80 generations. Muslims, well, do the math. Actually the Egyptians also worshiped a single god (but only at one time in their history - not counting Islam). Google Amenhotep IV who changed his name to Akhenaten. |

That would seem to be an odd place to put the shining light of creation.
Maybe we're not. There is no effective way to demonstrate the origin of life on Earth as having its genesis on Earth. Considering the vast distances involved it would never be possible to visit any other locations in a single human lifetime using normal chemical propulsion means. If you used other methods not yet available you could make the trip to a place that may be another site where life exists in your lifetime, but the time for everyone else would remain constant. The shining light then is what you make it to be. "dgk" wrote in message ... Almost all of those folks were pretty ignorant of the fact that the earth is not the center of the universe, or the only thing in it. In fact, we're the third rock from an extremely minor star in a remote corner of a small galaxy. That would seem to be an odd place to put the shining light of creation. Maybe we're not. |
