Buy new Oil Burner or fix old one?
The house I moved into 2 years ago was built in 1977 and has a Weil McLain oil burner. My friend says
these are great burners and can last a lifetime. However, a few weeks back I was having a few problems. I called an oil burner guy in and he told me that the chamber needs to be replaced. He showed me and it looked like a rusted, burnt piece of tin with a rip going down the middle of it. He said that if I do not replace it, eventually, the soot will return. It would cost $500 to do this. He said I have time but I shouldnt wait too long or the back of the chamber could collapes in. Is it worth putting $500 into a 29 year old burner? It also provides the hot water in the home. Any idea how long this will last if I get the chamber? Tony |

We had same problem several years ago and house filled with soot. Home owners insurance covered but it took several days to clean. Frank |
