Maytag freezer on the bottom refrigerator
The freezer keeps icing up and then the fridge won't keep food cold.
What can I troubleshoot? Thanks. |

Maytag freezer on the bottom refrigerator
ginger1029 wrote: The freezer keeps icing up and then the fridge won't keep food cold. What can I troubleshoot? Thanks. Hi, Model#? Ice? Clear like an ice cube or white like frost/snow? Frost would indicate a frost free failure. jeff. Appliance Repair Aid http://www.applianceaid.com/ |

Make sure the fan is working. It circulates the cold air to the
refrigerator section. The one in my new Maytag died after about 8 months. I ordered one off the web and put it in myself rather than take the day off work to meet the repairman. ginger1029 wrote: The freezer keeps icing up and then the fridge won't keep food cold. What can I troubleshoot? Thanks. |

I am at work and not sure about the model. I think it is clear like
ice. I will check. Thanks. ginger1029 wrote: The freezer keeps icing up and then the fridge won't keep food cold. What can I troubleshoot? Thanks. |

Maytag freezer on the bottom refrigerator
"ginger1029" wrote in message oups.com... The freezer keeps icing up and then the fridge won't keep food cold. What can I troubleshoot? Thanks. It may be a computer problem. Just had a customer (in an unrelated field) who went through this sort of thing. The freezer cools the refrigerator, and if anything in that process goes wrong, well... So your freezer is icing up and preventing the cooling of the fridge. There are diagnostic tools that the service people have (similar to those used by auto technicians) to troubleshoot the computer. Yes, it sounds ridiculous, but I watched it happen. Call the place you bought it from and find out how to get a service call. Anything you do yourself is likely to be a temporary fix. For now, keep the ice in check. |

ps.com... But yet the freezer portion works fine.... Of course it does. The freezer isn't the problem. The problem has to do with the regulation of the temperature of the fridge part of your refrigerator. The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer. Somewhere, something is not letting cold air properly get over to the refrigerator - be it ice or a faulty electrical component. The computer is probably doing something wrong, or some other part has malfunctioned and caused the computer to get confused, or is otherwise keeping it from doing its job. Have someone look at it. |

Thanks. ginger1029 wrote: G'day, Clear ice usually takes much longer than the frost to slowly build up and choke off the air flow from the freezer to the fresh food section. Ice is more the defrost is working but the defrost water cannot run away and freezes....maybe a clogged drain. jeff. Appliance Repair Aid http://www.applianceaid.com/ |
