Interesting. China and India and everyone except us will suddenly
stop using as much oil, the drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska
will start immediately and the differences between supply and demand
that have been buidling up since the 70s will miraculously disappear.

I doubt that will end it. I'm now paying $74 to fill up. When my
money is gone, I'll have to buy less somewhere else. I expect oil
prices will rise even more, although I probably won't gamble on it.
Lucky are those who own oil stocks and the oil companies themselves.

And the cost of hybrid/electric cars will be going up because of the cost of
copper wire! You can't win.

Once E85 becomes widely available, market forces will keep it within 1% of
the cost per mile as gasoline but we will be fooled into buying it because
it seems cheaper to fill the tank. You can't win.

The price of gas and milk will soon be equal. good thing we can't run our
cars on milk, just imagine the smell from the tailpipe. You can't win.

Bottled water is still more than gas (if you buy the small bottles of yuppy water).

Let's see, 400,000 bbl/day lost from Alaska for a while till they fix the
pipelines. Meanwhile, The Economist reports that the world supply is 1,800,000
bbl/day over demand (if taps are opened). That should moderate prices - right?

Cheney's friends (he was, after all CEO of Halliburton). Their friends
have been getting so much richer since those two have been in office.
