Default Mounting extension for bathroom light fixture

We are considering replacing our bathroom mirror (which is flat against
the wall) with a medicine chest that would extend 5.5 inches from the
wall. The lighting fixture above the current mirror would not clear the
medicine chest; the light source would be blocked by the chest.

The question is, is there any kind of extender mount that would allow us
to move the lighting fixture off the wall about 5 inches to clear the
protruding medicine chest?

Thanks!

Hi,
Goose neck type fixture? Visit a lighting store and have a look. Or
couldn't you recess cabinet into wall cavity if it's sheet rock wall?
Cabinet width is usually made to fit between wall studs.

Unless you are in love with the fixtures, probably easiest to get different
ones- they aren't expensive. Have you picked your cabinet yet? Many are
available that include lights. Also pretty easy to move fixtures, since the
cabinet will cover up the holes in the drywall. Of course, you could also
build a hardwood box to match the cabinet, and mount the fixture on that.
