Hi,
Last night when my 10 year old daughter was baking cookies (those
peanut butter ones with the big chocolate star pressed into the top),
they all burnt because the broiling element would not turn off until
power was interrupted by turning off the circuit breaker. After
cycling power on the stove a couple times the problem did not go away.
Even though the control panel indicated that the oven was off, the
broiling element was on. It just would not turn off.

Do I need to replace the oven controller on this range?

Model: Sens-A-Clean Self-cleaning Electric Range
Model number: 665.95882 (I am pretty sure this is the model, but the
owner's manual also
lists 665.95824 and 665.95829.)

The error code that I get by holding the cancel button in for 5 seconds
is F3 E2 which indicates the bake range is over temperature.

In the schematic I noticed that there is a thermal fuse in series with
the broiling element that is suppose to open at 363 degrees F. I
suspect this thing is either not working or in a place that doesn't
represent the oven temperature. The oven got pretty hot because we had
smoke detectors going off like crazy. We regularly cook at
temperatures higher than 363 without producing smoke.

I ended up opening up the back panel of the oven and disconnected the
broiling element by slipping off the leads. Then I wrapped them with
standard black electrical tape so they would not cause a short. At
least now I can operate the other elements of the oven.

Is anyone familiar with the issues these ovens have? Any advise would
be greatly appreciated. If I need to replace the oven control is there
anything I should be aware of that may cause me headaches?

Always take the model# off of the ranges tag and not the use&care
manual. The #'s posted are too short.

Shorted wire, bad control would be prime suspects!

F3 - E2 Oven too hot

This usually is sensing the area behind the oven, incase that area got
too hot the thermal fuse would open up shutting off the element.

I ended up opening up the back panel of the oven and disconnected the
broiling element by slipping off the leads. Then I wrapped them with
standard black electrical tape so they would not cause a short. At
least now I can operate the other elements of the oven.

I looked up the cost of the replacement part, the oven control, or
range control. It cost almost $300. Is it possible to just replace
the scr or transistor that failed? Or maybe it is the control
circuitry that controls the high power device. If you have any
thoughts on this please advise me. Thanks in Advance.

No parts for the part...esp from the manufactures as this would only
come as a one piece part.
