drilling on a wall...advise
I want to drill holes in order to install a table from Ikea, nothing deep,
just enough for the screws space. How do I know there are not electric wires in the other side... are they always far away from the first wall layer? Thanks Montenegro |

Two things, you want to find the stud and you want to avoid wires and
pipes. Wires are *usually* run inside walls so as to be equidistant from the wall surfaces. IMO the easiest way to do what I think you're trying to do, which is hang a small table sruface, is to lightly mark off where the surface of the table will be on the wall. This could result in a rectangle, say, 4 feet by one inch. Within there, since the table will cover up the probing, poke thru with a hammer and nail some holes, just enough to figure out where the studs are and to see if any wires are obvious. The a*** retentive way is to rent or borrow or by one of those tester thingys that finds wires inside walls, that electricians use. |
