have to disagree there.
so far every question i've asked has received useful answers.
sure some folks give you sarcastic replies, it's easy enough to ignore them.
wording your questions politely goes an long way, no one here is obligated
to give you answers.
someone who words their questions as the window person recently did
shouldn't be surprised by a flood of sarcasm.

When you post in all caps, it tends to draw yells in return.

If you don't like it, watch out for that doorknob.

Well I've only asked one question and didn't receive any response. But
considering what I paid, no one here owes me an answer. And I have
learned a bunch just lurking and searching the group via google. I
didn't pay anything for that info. If the OP understood the nature of
usenet I think they would feel differently.

As far as I can tell, you have asked two related questions. The first
one was answers as best as anyone could without being familiar with the
specific product you have. I might add that since you had the installation
manual, you likely have more information than anyone here has. The second
question no one has the answer for with out special knowledge we don't have.

You may not know this, but a couple of the people that did answer as
best they could are well informed experts in their field and offer a great
deal of valuable advice and it is all free.

Personally if you want the answer you should contract the contractor,
and yes, he may well charge you for his time, after that is his job and he
deserves to be paid for his work.

Tocapet,

A few suggestions:

1) Lurk in a newsgroup a bit before posting or asking
questions. You would have discovered that many
HVAC questions such as your recent questions tend
to get smart-ass replies. Unfortunately, that is
life at alt.home.repair.

2) Consider whether you are setting yourself up for
some sharp replies before posting. You were dragging
out questions about a heat pump that you had installed
and the fact that you aren't happy with the installation.
Now you are upset that you got 2 untactful comments
telling you that you should phone the installer and get
him to address you issues rather than attempting to
correct this new installation yourself. That advice makes
sense to me, although the replies certainly could have
been more politely worded.

3) Speaking of politeness: It seemed to me that your first
thread got nothing but polite and knowledgable comments.
I also noticed that you never thanked any of the people
who took the time to answer your questions.

Good luck with your heat pump,
Gideon

And well he shouldn't Senseless waste of bandwidth, that
is, unless he's got other interesting feedback to go with it.

Purely untrue. But you gotta RTFM as some folks say. (Means "do some
preparatory research- do your homework.")

This is NOT a forum, but a Usenet news group. Democratic in the
extreme. Disrespectful of the officious. You could say that many
folks here like a vintage "wine", _not_ "whine." You'd be best advised
to take that to someone who cares.

TTFN,
John

Well, no. But with the amount of bitchin' that goes on here sometime about
people giving good advice freely would make it seem as some had paid big
bucks for it and were short changed.
