Broker commission for sale of home

From what has been posted: Commissions, being a fee for services, are taxable in NM (as part of the Gross Receipts Tax, which in actually practice resembles a sales tax). So if you sold a house - 1) You'd pay the commission 2) You'd pay the tax on the commission. End of story. NOBODY is claiming that you pay sales tax on the sale of the house itself. The COMMISSION is what is taxed, not the house sale. -v. |
