How to Deal with Humidity in Garage
How would you deal with excessive humidity in a garage converted to
living quarters? There is an inordinate amount of humidity in the garage, due perhaps to the trees which surround the garage. The clothes that I hung in the garage are nearly ruined. My printer, I believe, got damaged by the toner which ruptured due to the humidity. Then my computer broke down due, I think, also due to the humidity. Some of my documents with ink scribbles became nearly illegible as the ink on the watery paper started slipping and spreading. Is there an instrument that measures the humidity level? Can you purchase one from Home Depot? Also, how should I deal with this problem? I've looked at some dehumidifiers but they all seem rather expensive ($1500-5000). Is there a more cost effective solution to this? What's strange is that the rest of the house isn't all that humid, including the basement. Are the trees the reason? If not, then what? |

You simply do not understand the relative value of things. A 500 sq. ft. area is tiny despite the fact that you seem impressed with your garage living space. Honestly though, nothing will solve you problem until you take care of the basic reason of why the moisture is getting into the space to such a degree. I suspect it would be real obvious to a qualified person that inspected the area. Have a person with some degree of situational awareness take a look. Hey, dufus, who asked you to do the shopping for me? Impressed with garage space? Look moron, I described the size of the garage to give you an idea of what I'm dealing with. I'm not talking about a shack. Or a brick ****house. Nor am I talking about a separate structure. Look, I need a qualified person to get information from. I don't need a Home Depot flunkie like you to pollute these boards, you hear? Blow your head outta your ass, you moron. .. Now that's hitting below the belt, even for a Canadian. I have no affiliation with HD whatsoever other than shopping there. I understand. You're just a nice guy that doesn't want anyone to know. |
