Asbestos clutches?
Barb Knox wrote:
My early-1980's old F&P autowasher has a friction clutch consisting of two spring-loaded copper arms pressing against the inside of a copper cylinder (which is indeed open to the floor). It contains no asbestos, or anything else. What number is it? An F&P guide for models 274, 390, 400, gives: Clutch: Centrifugal type, two curved shoes with bonded fibre pads. In cars `bonded' was where the brake linings were bonded rather than riveted to the shoes. |

Asbestos clutches?

Then you hope that when you next are playing around on the floor while parent is doing the washing that the dose of asbestos coming from the washing machine is minimal. The old F&P Autowashers have their clutch open to the floor. I suppose there would not be much im comparison to what comes from old car brakes, onto the garage floor. I think some brake manufacturers got rid of asbestos sometime around 1990? What does this have to do with asbestos being disposed of in a landfill? Dimitri And Col & I are not Aucklanders. |
