Default Rat-a-tat-tat! :-) Step-son and new mower... HELP!

the noise is more then likely blade not tightened properly, check and
tighten

the smoke is when it was tipped on its side to change the bent blade oil
from crankcase went to where it should not have. if it does still run check
oil level start up let run smoke should clear up in 5 mins.

check the crank if it is bent buy a new unit (may be cheaper then a proper
fix)

check the flywheel key if it is sheered the rope will snap out of your hand
when trying to start the unit
if your not sure how to cheek the key & crankshaft take it to a shop and get
them to look at it.

good luck
