Default Behr deck stain

I do NOT recommend using Behr deck stain. We did on our 1 year old
treated lumber deck and after 2 weeks it is still sticky. WHY isn't it
drying? We are so sorry we didn't buy Thompsons, yet Behr was the best
paint we ever used in the house. Is this stuff going to dry before
winter???

My guess is you applied too much sealer to the wood or applied it when
the wood was too wet. This is usually the cause a problem like this.
I would personally suggest using Ready Seal deck sealer instead of
Thompsons for many reasons.

Thompsons and almost any other stain your going to find in local
hardware stores is linseed oil based which is food for mildew.
Clear sealers offer very little, if any UV protection and the deck
will turn grey quickly.
With recent VOC compliancy changes most deck sealers have changed
forumulaes and they don't last very long at all.
Most products from hardware stores are also film forming. This means
they coat the surface and can be easily scratched or worn off.
Film formers can also trap moisture inside the lumber and can cause it
to rot from the inside out.

Ready Seal is a penetrating sealer and stain that penetrates into the
wood and replenishes the oils. You can learn more about Ready Seal
deck sealer at www.sunbritesupplymd.com. I'm a contractor and I've
been using it for years with excellent results.
