Oil-based or water-based?

Oil-based are hazardous waste - take to hazardous waste disposal site.

Water-based are not hazardous. Open can, let paint dry, throw out in
trash. If you have very full cans, there is a "rapid dryer" product you
can buy at a paint or hardware store.

Here, latex you just open up and let dry out and they take em at the
curb.

Oil based stuff is hazardous waste. In some counties there is a
program whereby they'll pick it up from your house, or you take it to
a hazardous waste drop off facility.
