The very last thread of the post states:

Does this sound about right? It seems like a lot of man days.

Not really. It means a crew of 10 would take a day. I don't believe
the high end of the estimate, but the low end seems about right.

On the _average_, one person can tear off one square per hour. This does
not include clean-up and prep work, it also does not take into account for
set-up (jacks & boards) on a 10/12 pitch. If the structure is _cut-up_ with
a lot of dormers/flashing work/ and junctures, that average gets on the low
side of an hour per square.

If more than one layer of material, you will be tearing off at least two
square within a one square area. Most often this doesn't double the
production time, but it does increase the time to tear off a one square
area.

If the area is cut up, one square per hour is on the high side of the
average.
