Roof Price Per Square
This is a very old post, but I am just curious of what the opinions
a http://groups.google.com/group/misc....119d832cf5c2c2 The very last thread of the post states: "A 40 square 10/12 roof with two roofs on it is going to take about 10-30 man-days just to tear off and clean up" Does this sound about right? It seems like a lot of man days. Thanks for opinions. |

It seems like a lot of man days. On the _average_, one person can tear off one square per hour. This does not include clean-up and prep work, it also does not take into account for set-up (jacks & boards) on a 10/12 pitch. If the structure is _cut-up_ with a lot of dormers/flashing work/ and junctures, that average gets on the low side of an hour per square. If more than one layer of material, you will be tearing off at least two square within a one square area. Most often this doesn't double the production time, but it does increase the time to tear off a one square area. |
