Default Q: propane heating - pros and cons?

What are the pros and cons of propane heating (detached residential
property), as opposed to natural gas?

Safety issues?

TIA

propane is frequently more cost for the same heating, but you can have your
own tank so it won't go out of there's an outage caused by something
somewhere else.

Bottle gas (propane in the warmer climates, butane and other gasses in the
colder climates) is more expensive on a BTU basis than piped in natural gas. Its
usually only used where natural gas isn't available.

Bottle gas also has a slightly higher heat content by volume when compared to
natural gas, which means all your gas appliances need to be rejetted, if they
were designed for natural gas. Not a great expense, but something to keep in
mind.

Bottle gas prices tend to follow the market a little more than natural gas, so
the prices will fluctuate more.

You need to keep track of your tank levels and reorder in time, or sign up for
some sort of auto fill program.

Safety issues?

None to speak of. If you are comfortable with natural gas, bottle gas is no
different.

More expensive to operate. If installed properly, no less safe than
natural gas.
