Default questions about community sewer

I am considering to buy a house in a new construction development. The
lot that I prefer backs up to the community sewer and the control room.
I am concerned about any noise/smell because of that. The lot is small
and the house won't be more than 20-25 feet away from the septic tank.
Should I start looking at some other lot?

Besides possible odor/noise, that installation will
make the house harder for *you* to sell.

And if they ever have a problem any time of the day or night, the work
crew will be there under the lights with their equipment until its
fixed. At least they should be, the alternative is worse.

Seriously, do you HAVE TO buy this particular lot? Why not find a lot
without this feature.

Well, this one is a corner lot and has a walkout basement. The one
next to it will also have the same "feature". So I guess I'll have to
pick some other lot on the other side of the street without a walkout
bsmt.

OK, so that's a choice. People would buy a lot next to the sewer pump
if it was cheaper for the same features, or gave them more for the
same price. Either that or they were confident there would *neer* be
a problem. The potential problems are just that, potential. Your
choice. Just don't be surprised if something does happen.

But if you want a sloped lot with a walkout, well that's fine, but
does it have to be in that particular development? Are there any
other developments in the area? How did you pick that area and how do
you define your search, school system, distance to work, etc. etc.

Maybe you can get your walkout basement elsewhere. I have one, and I
don't live next to a pump station.
