Default Connecting PSUs in parallel to increase the current

I want to build a high current 12Vdc PSU for powering a compressor and
came across this:

http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Com...b-Power-Supply

or in TinyURL: http://tinyurl.com/hgj5y

which is an article on how to use an ATX PSU as a lab supply. I have
plenty of different ATX PSUs collecting dust, bu tno matched pairs, so
to speak.

My question concerns whether I can connect two ATX PSU in parallel to
increase the current o/p.

I seem to remember the need to ensure that both PSUs experience the same
load, something which can be achieved by introducing very low value but
high power resistors in series with the o/p of each PSU before they are
connected together.

Is my memory wrong?

TIA

Richard

Thank you. In fact I'm sure it would if I could get the TI site to
reveal the document in question!

I don't doubt that it is my PC - Netscape reveals a blank page with
'Done' in the status line and if I cut 'slup094.pdf' off reveals the
relevant page but no link to the pdf. IE just crashes.

sigh I guess that a rebuild is due, or maybe a MAC!

Thank you but installing Firefox for a single download? Probably not!

But that does beg the question as to why I cannot download it with IE or
Netscape. Machine error, perhaps.
