I agree with you, Jeff.

I saw that thing in action and actually did get to try it when a fellow
student brought it in. You had to stick the wire into the fork-shaped
holder and it was very difficult to use.

And to claim that it "beats the traditional soldering iron", well that's
just nonsense.
