Anil Deshpande Well if all functions operate normally when the fuse is replaced I would be considering the rating of the fuse. 1 amp seems fairly low to me if it is in the primary supply for the VCR. Perhaps you could experiment with a 1 amp 'slow blow' fuse, or mebbe a 2 amp. Is there any possibility of a wrong fuse being in there initially ? It has been my personal experience that 1A fuses seem somewhat unreliable, in any case a fuse will not protect electronics, so there would seem to be little reason to hold back on a larger fuse if all functions are normal when operating. Can you source the fuse value from the manufacturer ? -- Regards ..... Rheilly Phoull |

Maybe not, but then I suppose they just put those darn fuses in there to create service calls when they blow for no reason, huh? If the fuse is the proper type, then something is failing in the VCR It may be marginal now, but you can be sure eventually, it will be totally bad and then should you put a higher amp fuse in there and the VCR catches fire, then what? --- sam | Sci.Electronics.Repair FAQ Mirror: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/ Repair | Main Table of Contents: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/REPAIR/ +Lasers | Sam's Laser FAQ: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/lasersam.htm | Mirror Sites: http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/REPAIR/F_mirror.html Note: These links are hopefully temporary until we can sort out the excessive traffic on Repairfaq.org. When you say the fuse is burning, do you mean that the body or the ends
of the fuse itself is getting hot? If so, you have a high resistance connection in the fuseholder.
