RCA 46" projection T.V., M # P46921, CH # PTK195M1A.
Dead, 5 amp gma main fuse blown, horizontal output, drive, & SCR regulator, all ok! Convergence power board is bad: Reg IC STK 730-150 has a short between pins 4, & 5, & from 4, 5, to 8 & 9, as well as 10, & 11! I know pins 8, & 9, & 10, & 11 are internally shorted! R 19717, is 30 kohms, but reads 32.14 kohms within spec? Do you guys, & gals "rebuild" these modules, or just replace them? If so, do you find them to be reliable? Most change them! Module is approx. $ 100.00 Canadian, & IC (STK 730-150), is approx. $ 12.00! Is STK 730-130, the same equivilent? I got the same price, then a different price between the two, in two different suppliers! And no cross at NTE, just for reference! This unit died while it was off, but plugged in overnight, & just didn't come on the next day! This is a common failure! Is there any point to "filter" the A.C. line supplying this pcb, or, the main board? Varistors across the line? Rono. Thanks. |

You can rebuild the Convergence Power Supply assembly or flat out replace
it. Many RCA techs will order the necessary parts and rebuild them. Just don't replace the STK, there is a reason why it blew out, possibly a shorted diode in the circuit. Also check the caps in the poser supply regulator on the main pcb of the set, these have caused failures not related to the Convergence Supply Problem. Power Line conditioning is done in the main circuit board. "Rono" wrote in message ... RCA 46" projection T.V., M # P46921, CH # PTK195M1A.
