Default 29PT6361

I bought 29PT6361 Phillips TV in Australia in dec 2000. subsequently I
brought it to India in 2002. the TV was functioning well till late 2004
when the picture started getting distorted horizontally and the channel
names were half visible. the stretching of the picture happens more so in
the centre, but it does stretch through out. sometimes it falls back to
being normal. the picture quality however remains excellent.
I called a Phillips service engineer and they have been trying to get a
part for the last 6 months. the service engineer however could rectify the
fault thru the service code, but the rectification could not be stored. he
termed it as a software problem.
please help.

Clearly an E-W fault, possibly dry joint in the scan circuits. Check
those areas before breaking out the service manual and menus.

Sounds like a problem with the data storage in the digital convergence unit.
Philips has had problems with this circuit ever since they went to all digital
convergence, back in the mid 90's. Their recommended repair has always been
"replace the board", so factory isn't much help. Maybe someone has troubleshot
this down to component level?
