My Mitsu VS-50703 will not turn on.The green power light comes on for a
second and goes out. This is the second time this has happened over a four year time frame. The last time, the tech said he had to replace the entire motherboard. Can a non-tech (me) obtain and replace a motherboard? Or can I test capacitors to see if they are faulty? Thanks |

First of all, unless there was some kind of wierd problem or physical damage
the board shouldn't have to be replaced. It should be troubleshot to component level. If it wasn't really screwed up, your tech isn't much of a tech. Those boards are upwards of $400 and they are well worth fixing rather than replacing. Sometimes you need a $2 part, but it might be $250 in time to find it, that's still cheaper. What's more I'd bet that you can't get the whole board anymore. It would be nice to have the old one for parts because it probably only has one fault. If you're in NE Ohio I might do it, but the odds of that on the internet are slim. At any rate, find another tech. You might call around and start off with a question like, can you get the board for model VS-50703. You should get a response that they troubleshoot to component level. That might be your new guy. I only changed out one board in a Mits., and that was because after EPROM replacement the entire convergence subsystem failed to initialize. This only happened after lengthy troubleshooting and tech assistance from Mits. Also on a set that age they usually have to approve each sale of a board. They stop making them shortly after the set goes out of production and there is a finite supply. You might want to call a shop that is authorized Mits., but this is not essential. There are plenty of good independent shops out there. Let's put it this way, if they own a big boxtruck with a liftgate, they might just have alot of experience with bigscreens. They're not hauling VCRs in the thing. JURB |

I have the same problem, my VS-50703 does not turn on! Green light turns on
and the off. I can tell that something is shorted but I have no idea what it could be. Never saw this problem before and I'm not an expert on these sets! |
