Mom called with a Sony TV problem. Pressing local start causes relay to click and thats it!.No picture...no sound. Noticed that when set was unplugged , could hear degauss circuit go active when plug was reinserted. Also noted that remote will not turn TV on but if local on button is depressed and relay clicks, then remote can deenergize start relay. Any idea's.....cheaper to by mom a new set?? Thanks

It's probably caused by a bad STRS6301 in the power supply. This is a
very common problem on the EXR sets.

Power supply is dead, you'll have to get in there and do some
troubleshooting, or take it to a shop, Sony makes a good set and this one
should be relatively easy to repair.
