That annoying pattern is present in all inputs including tuner.

Whole screen of herringbone pattern get finer and coraser pitch with
time and switching among different input does this also. Herringbone
pattern slopes from top then do a zig then zag back to same slant to
countinue down to the bottom. The middle zig-zag band doesn't move up
or down.

Came in under warranty.

I have photos. Did bit of research and got some little info.

interference from nearby radio transmitters, or other devices that emit
RF signals of one sort or another.

Have you tried feeding the set a controlled test signal (say,
color bars and tone) inside a screen room to eliminate the possibility
of outside grunge?

Do you have a BPL (Broadband over Power Lines) trial going on in
your area?

Is someone running a microwave oven at the same time you're seeing
the herringbones?

Yes, I made certain of that:

The herringbone pattern is present in *all* of inputs including tuner.

S-video
Component
Composite video
Tuner

So, what do you think that could cause this problem? Looked at
schematic for this TV, still bit baffled.

Our isolation transformer is bit unique, if it buzzed or made weird
noises, that points to open main filter every time, not this time with
this one.

I do not have DVI cable, I'll have to source one and try again with my
test PC machine on it, has DVI video in it, I use it very ocassionally
to test DVI monitors, but this does works on samsung DLP.

On other hand, I need to find a way to output 1080 resolution for
convergence set up. All sets that supports 1080 requires both 480 and
1080 modes done. All of them upconvert the NTSC and most inputs to
480.

Many sets I need to set up convergence need to be done in 1080 mode,
what DVD players that is capable of 1080 output?

Solved!

Herringbone fault was in the scan processor board module. Costs
168.xx cdn from samsung, our shop is samsung authorized servicer
(warranty & customers). If it was exposed board instead of boxed into
metal box, I'd probe for bad part and swap one part but no extender
board and hard to access the chassis. Grrr.
