JVC CA-XHZ30 Junk ?
Hi;
I got a bunch of these "tower" stereos in for repair from a dealer and they seem to all have the same problem. No audio, which appears to be blown STK 412-420 ic chips. I haven't contacted JVC yet but I'm not seeing them listed in any of the distributers catalogs. I have the feeling that these chips are going to be pricey. Has anyone run into these before ? Am I waisting my time ? Thanks, Rick |

You should check the speaker mounted in the side of each box. There's only about 12 screws to remove the speaker. Have a good look at the speaker wires that run from the tag strip mounted on the speaker frame to the speaker cone. If they look like there touching or have been arching (bare wires have turned black) then this is the cause of the STK's destruction. As JVC Dude say's IC's only appear to be available from JVC Hope this helps, James |

...Thanks for the info.
Next, I'll call JVC to see how much those IC's actually cost. Rick |

I just got off the phone with the JVC dist. They gave me a price of $62.33 on the sub-output and $88.32 for the main output. That's $150 before shipping. Hhhmmm. I think I just aquired some big book ends. Rick |
