Default RCA does it again !

Aware of how much we laud the newer design of TCE products, I thought I'd
mention this. We all know that TCE engineers think of the servicer when
designing the product, but that thought is most likely something that could be
expressed phoenetically as "fukum".

They have certainly outdone themselves on this three panel LCD RPTV. (don't
know the mdl # right now).

This 2 year old unit comes in very dim, so the other tech decides to clean it.
After the mirror and outside of lens were cleaned to no avail, he decided to
clean the LCD panels. Now this guy isn't all that bad, but umfamiliarity has
bred disaster in this case. With my background, which includes a bit of machine
tool type of stuff, I would've recognized the mounting system as being
something you do not attempt to disassemble.

That's not the problem, we take the good with the bad and money is not a
problem. This thing is two years old and you can't get the part. I don't mean
it's NLA, I mean it's screw you we don't sell them, never did.

Now a new CRT based set, even an RPTV usually has a two year warranty on the
CRT(s), so wouldn't some type of equivalent coverage stand here ?

What's even more impressive is that I'm sure the cooling fans blew the dust
into the thing.

What's more, when I got there I told him to take it apart to the point where I
can see what's up. The kicker is that the input side of the main lens is
filthy. The LCDs probably didn't need to be touched, more than likely.

Actually if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated, but I
think we're screwed. I just mainly came here to bitch, and maybe this can serve
as a caveat for someone out there. It's certainly a caveat emptor for anyone I
know.

So can you describe what is wrong with the mounting system?
