Default Mitsubishi VS-582RS vertical trouble

I recieved this set, it had R525 burned open, and D507 shorted, which
indicated to me that the vert IC had failed.

I replaced this IC, diode, and 10ohm resistor.

The set powered up fine. it ran for about 10 or 15 seconds with fully
restored raster, the resistor began to smoke and the set died. powered back
on, with vertical collapse.
someone please help. This is driving me nuts.

The set turns on with a
fully restored raster. for about 10 seconds. then it will die, and when i
turn the set back on, its collapsed to a line again.

the resistor is burned. so i replace it, and the same thing happenes. but
this time, the IC doesnt fail. I just bypassed the resistor completely, and
tried to fire it up. it worked full raster, and then its out. back on, and
no vertical sweep. it shorted the diode again.

I replace the diode, and resistor. again. This time, i pull the power
connection to the deflection board, and insert my own power coard into it,
and ran the deflection board seperate. I powered up the deflection board on
its own, and of course, there is no raster because the signal board isnt
turned on yet. The resistor doesnt smoke. It remains fine.

When i turn on the signal board, the resistor starts to burn, altho i have a
perfect raster. then it opens up, and the set will shut down. I power the
set back up, and only a line.

It seems to me, the vertical stage remains fine, until the signal is
injected into the IC when the signal board is powered on. If its left off,
it remains fine.

Any ideas? please help. this is making me go insane.

So, when are you going to replace the bad capacitors in the vertical output
circuit?

Because they fail an out of circuit capacitor test on a quality ESR/Value/
and leakage meter.

The most common (not only) cause of vertical circuit problems are
capacitors. Any experienced tech can tell you the same thing.

i believe you are right.

If i hook a regulated DC supply to the VCC it works fine.

i believe it may be the filter cap, because the diode will overheat and
eventually fail within a minute. or the solder melts, whichever comes first.

the regulated supply works fine.

also, not to mention, the blue convergence for static is dead. red works
fine. guess im going to have to change the STK packs.

bigger diode, and filter cap fixed it.

also, the convergence is horrible

the focus is horrible

I have to turn brightness and contrast almost all the way down to obtain
good focus, it blurrs as i turn it up.

Any idea what circuit is responsable for this? i heard this isnt the
traditional focus.
