Default UPDATE: Symphonic TVCR19D1 Repaired

Hi,

Symphonic TV/VCR TVCR19D1 (1/95) wouldn't turn on. The power supply
would start up with normal B+114V output, but it would "die" within a second
after unit was plugged into AC. After several tests, I decided to "snip" one
lead of D1027 (EZ150) 150V 1W zener diode in B+ "line". The set "ran"!
I replaced D1027, part #QD4Z0001Z150 (or NTE 5100A).

Brad

Tip for your old computer (reduce discard pollution too):

If you can't sell your old computer, don't throw it away. Use it to backup
your software by transferring files/folders from your new computer or laptop
to it. I transferred my Windows folder and other stuff to my old computer
using "PC Link", which I downloaded from www.simtel.net (cool site).

The 150v zener is used to short or at least clamp the voltage down to a 150v
maximum if you have a power supply problem making you 114 too high. It should
not have any effect on the problem you were having by your description, but if
it fixed it, congratulations. My guess is the problem will return.
