KV-27TS29 just clicked off and won't power on. Can anyone advise me
on what to look for as the cause? I'm fairly competent when pointed in the right direction. Thanks. ...and it happened right in the middle of our first viewing of the Matrix Reloaded! What a way to ruin a Saturday night. I could cry... |

Power supply problem, horizontal output stage problem, system control
problem, plus a few others come to mind and could cause your symptom as described. Need a little basic troubleshooting information to give anything more than a guess. Those series of Sony sets are known for problems in many different areas. Plus you will need to order the parts once you are sure what needs replaced. David Jerry wrote in message ... Thanks. HI thought it might be an easy and or common problem.
A little more info: There seemed to be a grey line on the right edge of the screen and it kind of bent toward the center of the screen a coupole of times early in the movie. I figured it might be the DVD. When it went out, it sounded just as if I had hit the power button. Any basic tests I can run on the power supply to see if it's the culprit? You still need to perform some basic tests inside the tv set for any better
information. If you do a Google groups search for any or all of the following; Sony tv, dead Sony, 27ts29 or similar model number, etc You will probably find lots of hits for similar problems that should clue you in. Pay close attention to ones regarding SMPS problems with Q601,Q602,R627, HOT, etc. The Sony SMPS in that tv is NOT one to blindly replace parts and hope it will run right again. A full series of proper checks really should be performed to know that it is repaired correctly, otherwise the expensive SMPS transistors will blow again. David Jerry wrote in message ... Thanks.
