Anyone had any of these suffering from 'freeze-up' ? I've had one come in
today that powers up and appears to reset correctly. The eject sequence runs as it should during the power-up phase, and it settles with the right buttons lit, and a sensible display. If you are then quick, it will suck a disc out of your hand, and correctly read it and start playing it. For about 5 seconds, that is ... The whole unit then freezes up. The display is still sensible, but fixed. The correct button lights are still on, but not changeable. In fact no buttons or controls work at all. The only way then to get the disc back out, is to power right down and back up, let it start playing for the 5 seconds, hit "Pause" then "Eject" (that's normal as you can't eject these when they are actually 'playing'). All rails are spot on for voltage, and are clean. Beyond that, it's not a particularly easy unit to work on 'live'. So anybody had this or seen any Pioneer bulletins about it ? It seems to be a common problem, with a number of hits if you Google for it, but nobody seems to have come up with a solution for it. Here is someone on YouTube (not me !) showing the same symptoms. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcKbTUyl2S4 Software version is 1.33, which appears to be the latest. I thought it was probably worth a go to reinstall the firmware, but although you could get it into the download mode from a power-up, beyond that, it was having none of it :-( Arfa |
