Default Earthink has changed news servers, again

They switched from Supernews to Giganews sometime last night, so all
message IDs are screwd up, again. You wll have to resubscribe to the
various newsgroups to fix the prolems.

Interesting; I had the same problem overnight with Supernews, and this
didn't involve any changes in providers.

Michael

Supernews was borged by Giganews.

Well... Supernews is in the process of becoming Giganews, it seems,
and the changes are starting to kick in.

Critical Path announced a few weeks ago that they were selling their
USENET business to Giganews (although there's nothing visible about
this on the Supernews home page).

Sometime within the last six hours or so (I think), at least one news
servername in the .supernews.com domain was re-pointed to a Giganews
server. I had to dump my existing leafnode history file and let
leafnode re-fetch the newsgroups list and article-number ranges.

I suspect that similar changes are in effect for everybody who is
accessing Supernews, either directly or via a reseller service or DNS
alias.

And still, if you ask when a NG server will be back online, they do
not know what you are talking about; not even the stupidvisers.
Been this way from at least 2001.

Now that you mention it, the NGs provided by LocalNet were also
messed up..as if one had just subscribed!

They have no idea, since they no longer provide the service.
