My new Sony Bravia HDTV has the remote sensor on the *far* right side
of the TV. Fine, except the TV is recessed about 2" in a wood cabinet, and the sensor can't "see" a signal from the remote in a chair about 40 degrees to the right removed from dead center. I can make it work using a mirror, but that's not a very elegant solution. Plus, one must still aim the remote perfectly. Any ideas? [Other than that, I love the set.] |

Just glue a very small piece of white plastic, angled , in front of the receiver -- Diverse Devices, Southampton, England electronic hints and repair briefs , schematics/manuals list on http://home.graffiti.net/diverse:graffiti.net/ |

The other respondent's suggestion of bouncing the IR signal off the ceiling (mine is off-white) works great! |

The other respondent's suggestion of bouncing the IR signal off the ceiling (mine is off-white) works great! You could use a bit of double sided tape to do the gluing. I find the angle for bouncing off the ceiling is quite critical ,to be effective, maybe because it is not a flat surface. -- Diverse Devices, Southampton, England electronic hints and repair briefs , schematics/manuals list on http://home.graffiti.net/diverse:graffiti.net/ |

Scattered IR from that patch should be enough to control the TV. I often 'bounce' my control 'beam' off of the wall or ceiling because the aim is much less critical. -- bz 73 de N5BZ k please pardon my infinite ignorance, the set-of-things-I-do-not-know is an infinite set. remove ch100-5 to avoid spam trap |

Bouncing it off the ceiling works great! And, in addition, that solution makes it quite easy to see what button I'm pushing on the remote! I am in your debt. |
