Default Remote sensor extension?

My new Sony Bravia HDTV has the remote sensor on the *far* right side
of the TV. Fine, except the TV is recessed about 2" in a wood cabinet,
and the sensor can't "see" a signal from the remote in a chair about
40 degrees to the right removed from dead center.

I can make it work using a mirror, but that's not a very elegant
solution. Plus, one must still aim the remote perfectly.

Any ideas? [Other than that, I love the set.]

Aim your remote at the wall BEHIND YOU or the ceiling. Aim at a patch
of wall that the TV's remote sensor can 'see'.
Scattered IR from that patch should be enough to control the TV.

I often 'bounce' my control 'beam' off of the wall or ceiling because
the aim is much less critical.

Thanks! Bouncing it off the ceiling works great! And, in addition, that
solution makes it quite easy to see what button I'm pushing on the
remote! I am in your debt.

My pleasure!

You can 'pay that debt' by helping someone else, sometime. When the
opportunity presents itself.

Just as I just 'paid a small portion of the debt' I owe those that have
helped me over the years. Thank YOU for giving me the opportunity.
