Default Very strange Digital camera problem

I have a Fuji Finepix that has a strange attachment to a set of batteries. As
so much so that it will not work with any other batteries and wondered if
anyone has a guess why this might be
This is a finepix A345 that uses two AA cells. Ran fine for years then I
decided to save some money with rechargables so I got an energizer charger
and some 2500 mah NIMH batteries and all was fine.
Somewhere along the way I bought some Empire Scientific Batteries and thats
when the love affair began.
The Camera will only power on with two of the Empire batteries and no
others. I have tried rechargable and even went through several new packages
of alkalyne batteries before I convinced myself that there were only two
battries that would turn this camera on.
I pull them out and they read 1.28 and 1.3 volts which is similar to other
rechargables so I'm totally baffled and open to any theories.
The only other thing I did notice was with a set of new alkaline batteries
that read 1.5&1.52 V the camera would occasionally come on but power off as
soon as I released the power button
Thanks in Advancve

Many of my older NiMH batteries started to fail. My camera sucks a lot
of power Minolta F300, and on vacation my newest batteries were terrible.
An older set worked much better. I have yet to buy more batteries, but I
bought a good 8 cell individually controlled charger for about $50. In using
this charger I was able to find the best ones, that had reasonably low
impedance, and I threw out at least 2 dozen of my mostly older cells.
Make sure the contacts are clean. I usually try to put something like Deoxit
on the batteries.

I got tired of replacing batteries - Alkaline OR NiMH, so I rigged up a
battery pack which consists of (2) RC (6v 2100 or so Mah) packs in parallel.
I have them wired to a "T" connector so I can use one or both packs and
charge the packs as needed. I find the flash kills any sort of cells quick.
But my camera works pretty damned good without the flash, so I barely use
it. With no flash - those packs last a good while - enough for a day or so
of pictures. My memory card holds about 800 pics the way the camera is set
up and I can take that many on a charge. That is a lot of pics - many more
than most take in a day or so.

Just my 2 cents

maybe those cells are larger in length and you stretched to spring
inside so that other cells can not make connection any more?
just a thought.

Have you tried using an external adapter?
Is there any damage inside the battery compartment?

Beat me to it. I was going to suggest the same thing. Is it possible that
Empire batteries are trifle longer and they deformed the camera battery
contacts/

My guess is that the batteries that work are a hair longer or have a
slightly different shaped end than most batteries and they've bent the
contacts so they no longer mate correctly with most of the ones you try.
