Thaks, Mark. I'll try it. It appears that the micro is being tied up by
something. I have oscillation, all the supplies are OK, no outputs seem shorted, and it is getting the changes from the control panel, but not powering on. Have not gotten farther than that, but some kind of reset issue is certainly a possibility. Leonard "Mark D. Zacharias" wrote in message . .. Here's a tip I found on that receiver. Symptom: Dead. Thanks again Mark. This is indeed in the manual. When the units senses an
amp error, it shows the message for a few sec then it locks up. You can pull it out of this mode with the procedure below to see that message again. Anyone have any experience troubleshooting these amps. So far nothing looks bad, but I have not been through all the channels yet. Leonard "Mark D. Zacharias" wrote in message . .. You can plug in a double-ended AC cord to the switched outlet. Pug the
receiver's own AC cord into another switched outlet, and bring them both up on a variac. This allows you to check all the internal voltages without regard to protection status. If the receiver only has one switched outlet, you can rig it manually, but of course be sure to maintain the AC polarity, or else the AC line would end up shorted together. I think I saw a 54TX with a shorted .01 cap near a speaker terminal. Went into protect instantly as soon as the relay hit. The nice thing was the cap could be found just be using an ohmmeter at the affected speaker terminal with the amp OFF, since the shorted cap was after the speaker relay. Mark Z.
