Anyone know the polarity of the 5V power jack centre pin? TIA. THe AC adaptor is not marked (and neither is the unit) but the one I bought at a garage sale a few weeks ago did have the adaptor with it, and measuring it, center is positive. It's the same model, and the Iomega marked adaptor says it supplies 5v at 1A. Michael |

All are for US sue on 120 VAC, 60 Hz. 1: Zip 02477800 RWP480505-1 China Linear 2: Zip 02477800 SG-511 Indonesia Linear 3: Zip 02742700 AP05Z-US Korea SMPS -- Service to my country? Michael Many thanks, the drive is not marked and I do not have the original adapter - but I do have some SMPS 1A 5V centre positive adapters. |

I believe the point was that he didn't have an AC adaptor, so he couldn't check the polarity that way. ANd yes, one could open the Zip drive up and figure it out, but he may not have the background to do that. Michael |

Funny, wonder why that doesn't work? How about Australia, where the crime rate has gone up, since they were banned. BTW, The man the Crocodile Dundee movies were based on was killed buy the Australian government when he refused to give up his guns. -- Service to my country? I remember good that feeling with two magnets, trying to fit minus to minus, or plus to plus. It's difficult to hold same polarities together, as it can change anytime the position in any direction, except the direction to the same pole of the other thing. Best Regards, Daniel Mandic |

Claude Hopper Yes thanks - but there's no i/p protection diode to give a meaningful reading and since the guide runners fall out when the unit is dismantled it was easier to ask if anyone knew off hand. As it happens after I got the drive up and running and went looking to see if I had any disks to play with I found an old drive I'd forgotten about at the back of a dusty shelf, this was a scrap unit someone left with me after killing it with a wrong polarity PSU - it would have been easy to meter from the jack to the i/p filter electrolytic, oh well! |
