Default PS2 laser help

I'm trying to install a new laser in a V12 Playstation (slim). The
laser is brand new and I was told I have to unsolder a point on it
before it can be used. I'm checking this laser up and down and sideways
and I can't find this point that must be unsoldered. Does anyone know
for sure where it is located on the lens and describe it to me in great
detail ? God bless.

Tony

I'd ask the person that told you that you needed to unsolder a point on it..
Just kidding... :'0

I don't know myself but I'd look for something that looks like it's meant to
be unsoldered.. Like a large blob of solder shaped like an oval or a thick
line. Or maybe a small jumper etc... Use unsolder braided wick it works
pretty good.. I find it's often easier than an unsolder tip and much less
trouble.. Might get slightly hotter though dunno.

If the lens you have is the same type as your old one you could take a peak
at the old to compare it. You've probably got a newer laser lens than you
had before though.

If you were able to post a high quality image of the back side of the laser
lens assembly I'm sure someone would be able to point it out to you. Maybe
take pics of all sides if possible.

Is it just the lens and assembly or the entire lens, mount, rail, and
spindle? Maybe there is a point soldered to prevent something from moving
during shipping etc.. to keep it in perfect calibration?

Depending on the type of laser, the solder jumper to prevent
static charges from damaging the laser, it looks like in the site
below, just scroll down. Dani.

There you go.. here's a picture of what needs to be done. Looks like it's
on the side of the unit not the bottom.

Thanks Dani
