Default Sony KV-32TS35 No Audio

Hi there. I have a Sony KV-32TS35 TV that just the other day decided
to stop playing audio. The video shows beautifully (almost as good
as the day I brought it home). With no luck, I've tried different
video/audio sources and ofcourse the volume is turned up, also mute
is not selected. I know that TV's are dangerous to work on and I'm
very careful. I've read that I may have a cold solder joints on my
tuner board particularly the standup PC board next to the tuner. The
tuner board came out quite easily and I've resoldered (I have alot of
soldering/desoldering experience) all the connections in the standup
PC board but again no luck. I'm wondering if the tuner board is shot
completely? Any suggestions?
I would hate to throw this TV away, because it's been so good to me
and this picture is still so sharp. I've thought of having someone
out to look at it, but I have more time than money. Thanks.

I had a similar problem several years back on my 32 inch Sony. From
what I remember, it was not the tuner board that was the problem, but a
small board piggy backing on top of the tuner. Once I replaced the
piggy back board, the audio came on loud and clear.

Verify that the set is not in SAP mode.

I agree with Jonesy, the stereo decoder module is known to go bad due
to leaking electrolytic caps on this module. It is located on the board
you pulled, and is easily desoldered. You should see where the caps
have leaked on the PC board. The sound is usually distorted though, but
I guess a complete loss isn't out of the question. I just replaced this
module on the exact same set, and it works fine now (still have
vertical problem though). I bought my module from Union electronics.
Good luck.
