Default Sony CCD-F77 camcorder problems

This camcorder had a scrambled pic from the camera head, and very poor color
playback, so I recapped the entire unit, all except the sound section yet,
as it was still working.

I made sure I got the radials on the SS board, and cleaned the corrosion
from the CCD board, and the little board underneith the VA y process
section. Replaced all the caps on the yprocess daughter card board, and all
but two in the yprocess section.

The VCR now works perfect playback and record through the RCA jacks with
true vivid color.

But I still have two slight problems. the video from the camera head is now
rock solid, but there is a white square in the middle of the viewfinder,
like an outline. doesn't show up on the RCA video, but the main problem is
there is no color from the CCD. its all green. I dont know why.

Another issue, is anyone have a VA board, there is fenominal trace damage,
and in order to compensate for the trace damage, I had to use radials in
place of the SMD caps, but the problem is I cant fit the VC board and put
the case back together anymore. The caps are too large. but, I cant use SMD
anymore, because of the trace damage.

But the circuit still is functioning, but all I get from the camera head is
a solid green pic with no color.

Any Ideas?

All the caps have been replaced. Every one of them, to no avail. still black
and white image with a green hue from the camera.

If I superimpose the image, the superimposed image changes colors upon
command. hmm.

Any clues would be helpful. Thanks!

Plenty of non-functional camcorders on Ebay- very cheap for parts. Lots
of early CCD units.
