Default CD changer

I have a cd changer that works well most of the time, but occasionally
when I try to play it I get ERROR message and it won't play. I keep
opening and closeing the carosel door, or turning off the power source,
and eventually it will work again. I have looked for obvious things
such as dirty lazer lens, cd out of alignment with spindle, and all
seems fine there. Is there something I can check to find out what the
problem is? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Brand and model info would help.

Cleaning problems account for the majority of issues like this.

He cleaned (he said). OP: do it again. While you have it open, check for
binding/proper lubrication in all of the mechanism.

Most importantly: reseat all ribbon cables.
