I know what you mean about dedicating a bench makes it unavailable for
anything else.

I will likely mount the mounting plate in a recess on the bench and
then have a piece of bench top that will fit in the mounting plate when
the tools are not being used so I will have a flush surface to work on.

Considering that I have a number of smaller tools that would work well
with a quick mount attachment, I consider this approach will save on
the bench space normally used.
