That's good advice, and I've done it many times. If
you're really concerned, put the concrete in in two
steps, the first one with a little less water mixed.
I ass-u-me you're making sure you get below the
recommended freeze line depth, right? If not, whatever
you do won't matter; it won't last anyway.

the concrete, said it would displace the water, then
the water should
drain off (water table?) then go back and finish it
with more "mud".
