Hello:

Want to get a very low cost string trimmer of the weed-wacker variety.

The only two that seem to be offered in the $ 70 range are a model by
Yard Machines which I guess is MTD, and
one by Homelite.

I realize these are el-cheapos, but any opinions on which brand
is "better"

Thanks,
B.

Consider a battery operated one. I have one now and there is no
going back for me. I love it.

Hi,
Until the battery does not hold charge any more?

I had a Ryobi thats battery died after about a year. It was a number of
years ago and they probably make better units now, but I find the 2
cycle Echo best for my purposes.
