So I'm curious... about a related construction practice.
What about staggered 2x4... What is the typical spacing-- 16"?
Would you use a 6 or 8 inch top/sill plate? (if i have terminology

You'll have less thermal bridging, and more room for insulation.
Have you considered that?

(contractors: Is this practice done much these days? What about fire blocking?)


also consider spray foam or wet pack cellulose.
I think cellulose is R4/inch.
you'd have around R24 with the 6 inch space.

Foam is aroun R7/inch. (www.fomofoam.com is the only place i know that
does DIY foam... always looking for other sources though)
