I was told by Kitchens Direct that they are Moben when they came and
did a design for me. I couldn't get rid of the fat biffer and he smelt.
Needless to say I never went with them...............

We are replacing our kitchen and have about 4 days ago commited to a M*ben
Kitchens salesman. We were under quite a bit of pressure that the sales
discount is invalid if we did not sign on the day and after his departure
would not apply. So we paid our deposit. However what we were not told
until the time of signing is that the discount only applies if we agree to
sign up to their First National Credit agreement for a sum of at least 10k
(kitchen cost is 12k). We were told that we only have to pay a maximum of
150.00+- in interest charges if we decided to settle in full after 13
months. Can anyone give me any input on this? Also there are a few
questions we have about the Kitchen as the salesman did not clarify that the
hood re recirculatory type and not as what we wanted which is extraction to
exterior type. As we have already signed up and paid our deposit is there a
recourse and can we say within a week arrange the same contract through
another of their salesmen or even Kitchens Direct (who we are told are
exactly the same wit hthe same level and quality of product?

Any advice will be appreciated.

I've been through this with KD before, also with First National as
credit supplier. There was a lot of pressure to sign there and then,
and a lot of emphasis was made on the "fact" that we only had to pay
10% up front and the balance when we were satisfied that the kitchen
had been installed correctly.

It's complete ******** of course, because the credit agreement ensures
that KD get 100% up front, and if it all goes tits up you're still left
with the credit agreement to pay off regardless of whether the kitchen
is installed to your satisfaction or not.

If the agreement is signed in your home then under the Consumer Credit
Act 1974 you have 7 days to cancel. This must be in writing. To be fair
to First National, they cancelled our credit agreement with no fuss or
bother and the deposit was returned without question.
