Sorry, given that it was e-bay, I didn't cjheck the origin. The solution
that I suggested was for North American usage.
The key in the UK case is to pitch the original transformer and get an
isolation transformer (2 winding 120/240V)

Why not connect directly to the 120V outlet.

Are those common in England? I've never seen any.
