Originally we ran the dishwasher with 'tablets' only (we thought that
this was OK...) Since then we've tried adding salt and rinse aid - but
we still have problems with this 'film' after washing. We use
well-water in the house...

Have you tested the well water?

It was tested for the usual 'nasties' when we moved here - about 5
years ago. The list of tests included such favourites (!) as
Total coliforms
Faecal coliforms
Clostridia
Nitrate
Flouride
and
Turbidity.

And the water was fine on all counts. We only once had a problem with
the water after a couple of days of very heavy rain - when it went
cloudy for a day or two - but I don't think that's the cause of the
problems.

The small 'run' I did last night in the dishwasher looked better than
before - having managed to 'turn on' the water softener maybe things
will continue to improve...?

Thanks for the reply
